President Ilham Aliyev has signed a new decree aimed at promoting the use
of electric vehicles (EVs) in Azerbaijan — a move that aligns with the nation’s growing commitment to
sustainability, innovation, and energy efficiency.
The decree emphasizes the critical role of electric vehicles in reducing carbon emissions, improving energy
efficiency, and driving technological advancement in the transportation sector. By fostering the widespread adoption
of sustainable and environmentally friendly vehicles, the initiative seeks to accelerate Azerbaijan’s transition
toward a cleaner, greener, and more modern transport system.
In line with this vision, the decree calls for the creation of a comprehensive legal and regulatory framework to
support the expansion of electric vehicle usage. This includes the development of EV infrastructure, such as
charging stations, and the integration of electric mobility into the national transportation network.
This strategic step positions Azerbaijan among the nations actively advancing low-emission transport solutions,
supporting its broader goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fostering innovation in clean energy
technologies.
